Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)

It works by calming the body’s stress response and rewiring how the brain and nervous system process emotions—especially those linked to past experiences, trauma, or belief patterns.

How Does it Work

EFT, or Emotional Freedom Technique, is a gentle, effective mind-body therapy that helps release emotional stress and restore balance. It involves tapping with your fingertips on specific meridian points on the face, neck, and chest—areas used in acupuncture—while focusing on a particular memory, emotion, or issue.

By tapping on these points while tuning into a problem (such as a fear, anxiety, or traumatic memory), EFT helps to calm the nervous system, interrupt unhelpful emotional patterns, and reduce the intensity of the emotional charge linked to those thoughts or experiences. This can bring fast relief and a sense of clarity and calm.

When we experience distress—whether emotional, physical, or mental—our nervous system reacts. EFT combines focused attention with physical tapping to interrupt this stress response. It helps the brain "uncouple" difficult memories or thoughts from the emotional charge they carry, leading to relief, clarity, and calm.

EFT is both a tool for deep healing and a fast-acting technique that can be used in the moment to help bring you back into emotional regulation.

What Can EFT Help With?

EFT can be used effectively for a wide range of emotional and physical challenges:

Anxiety, Stress, Panic, and Overwhelm

Helps calm the nervous system and reduce the intensity of anxious or panicked states—often within minutes. Ideal for those who feel emotionally dysregulated or easily overwhelmed.

Phobias and Fears

Whether it’s a fear of flying, public speaking, or social settings, EFT helps gently reduce the emotional reactivity behind fear-based patterns.

Pain and Physical Symptoms

EFT has shown benefit in addressing physical symptoms that have an emotional component or emotional roots (e.g., chronic pain, tension, or gut issues), offering a holistic way to support healing

. ✔ Limiting Beliefs and Low Self-Worth

It helps shift long-standing beliefs such as “I’m not good enough” or “I always mess things up,” often rooted in early experiences.

✔ Trauma and PTSD

EFT can be used gently and safely to address unresolved trauma without the need to relive events in full detail. It's often used as part of trauma-informed care to release emotional charges stored in the body.

✔ Grief, Anger, and Emotional Reactivity

EFT supports the safe release of difficult emotions that may feel “stuck” or overwhelming. It helps regulate emotional responses and reconnect to a more grounded, centered self.

It can be used both as a deep therapeutic process and as a quick tool for immediate emotional relief in the moment.

🧠 For Trauma Survivors

EFT is trauma-sensitive and can be adapted to your pace. You never need to go into detail if you don’t want to. It works gently to release stored emotional pain, often without needing to re-experience the trauma itself. Safety and consent are always central.

👨 👩 👧 For Parents

EFT can help you regulate your emotions so you can respond more calmly and consciously to your children. It supports the healing of old triggers and patterns inherited across generations, helping you model emotional safety and resilience to your child.

For Spiritually-Oriented Clients

EFT offers a bridge between science and spirituality. It supports emotional clearing, alignment, and intuitive clarity—helping you release blocks and reconnect with your inner truth and higher self.

What to Expect in a Session

During a session, your practitioner will guide you through tapping sequences while helping you gently explore what's coming up emotionally. It’s a collaborative and non-invasive process, and you remain fully clothed and in control throughout.

You may feel shifts during the session—such as calm, insight, emotional release, or a sense of lightness. Some people feel tired afterward, others feel energised. Emotional reactions like laughter or tears are completely normal and part of the healing process.

Do You Need to Prepare?

LNo special preparation is needed. Just come as you are, with an open mind and a willingness to explore what’s present for you. If there’s a specific issue or feeling you’d like to work on, that’s helpful—but not essential.

Is EFT Safe?
